Saint Joseph’s values being part of an exciting and vibrant wider community, close to London Bridge in the heart of London. The school has strong links with both parishes and the parish priests are frequent visitors to the school. We continue to develop relationships with other schools to enhance opportunities for teaching and learning, continuing professional development, assessment and wider extra-curricular opportunities.
The school supports both local and national charities. For Harvest Festival, food and clothes are collected for a nearby centre for the homeless. We have also supported a range of other charities including UNICEF (Refugee Crisis), British Legion (Poppy Appeal), McMillan Cancer Charity and a village of orphaned children in Gambia. The school choir sing at a Day Centre for Senior Citizens.
We have also worked with other local and National organisations – including Bankside Open Spaces Trust, John Harvard library, Southwark Playhouse, Sapphire Consulting, CAFOD and Lepra.
Saint Joseph’s is part of the Community Service Volunteer (CSV) project which involves volunteers from local industry supporting children’s learning in class. We also have reading volunteers from a local Law Firm. These volunteers are all DBS checked and receive training on how to support children in school.
