Saint Joseph’s Catholic Primary school is a fully inclusive school. We take children with a range of abilities, special educational needs and disabilities. Each child is treated as an individual and we ensure that we support them to meet their full potential accessing all the opportunities we provide. Please note that some of our classes (Year 2 upwards) are on the upper floor and we do not have a lift.
When children are identified with special educational needs we make every effort to give extra help in the usual classroom setting. We monitor children’s progress carefully and differentiate the learning to support all ability levels. There are extra interventions delivered by teaching assistants and specialist teachers. Teaching assistants are trained and work is planned for by teachers and the school Senco. These are available for children identified for additional support. Information regarding our provision for SEND is contained in the SEND School information report and school offer on our Home Page in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and further information about the services and provision for children with SEND is available on the Southwark Local Offer which you can access at http://localoffer.southwark.gov.uk/
